In Zotero this was possible, but I note it is no longer possible via that method. Is there a new way to run plugins from source in Zotero 7?

In addition to the proxy file approach mentioned by Dan, you may also be interested in zotero-plugin-scaffold, a 3rd-party project that provides a way to install plugins via the Remote Debugging Protocol, which supports reloading plugins when the source code changes without having to restart Zotero.
