Using Workspace Mechanic to configure Perspectives

Hi,

Has anyone tried to use Workspace Mechanic to create, modify and/or arrange view Perspective layouts?

Yes, can copy an existing workspace when creating another.
(However, not quite applicable if the destination workspace already exists)

For me, I think the main objective would simply be to activate/deactivate Views and then set size/position to arrange them in user defined preferred layout for the Perspective.

Shame Eclipse doesn't allow exporting these settings on a per-perspective standpoint.

In the past, I've extracted the info from the eclipse config files and copy/pasted my Perspective's settings in manually.
Somewhat clumsy. And I always fear there may be a parameter mismatch. :P

Any suggestions?
Just moved up to Keplar if that helps/matters.

No, this won't work. The mechanic listens to preference store events and the perspectives don't use that for either the Eclipse 3.x or 4.x methods.

Don't know how eclipse stores its perspectives layouts, however (if you know or find out) you could write your own task for that. I for instance wrote a custom task to distribute our findbugs configuration. Have a look in the wiki:
